Notes: Lycoris or spider lilies are plants in the Amaryllis family. They are bulb perennials offering striking and showy umbels of funnel-shaped flowers on naked stems in late September or early October. They can naturalize easily and rapidly spread making a carpet when in bloom. They are called Flowers of Heaven, in Japanese.

The artist has made a powerful three sheet composition of incredible detail and beauty. I find it reminiscent of a six-panel folding screen.
