Notes: This newest series from the artist depicts decorations made from straw rope that are usually seen at Shinto shrines or on doors entering a home. They are often installed at New Years (hence the tangerine in a net bag) to bring luck and ward off bad spirits. Most are removed after three days. But this one is left hanging all year since the characters read sho mon--or laughter gate.
