Kiyomizu Temple, Kyoto - sold

This famous temple is in the Eastern hills of Kyoto, and a favorite tourist destination for centuries.

Dimensions:
9.5 x 14.75 inch sheet; image is 13 x 9 inches

Condition:
Vey good color and impression, small insect hole top right, somesoiling bottom margin. Yellow inks have faded, so green grass is now blue.

Notes: This is from a series of prints depicting the Shogun's entourage traveling from Edo to Kyoto to call on the Emperor, in the fading days of the Tokugawa shogunate. That procession had not been done for many years. As a result a series of 162 prints by ten different artists and 24 publishers celebrated the occasion.
