Title:
Han-shan

This image is often paired with "Shih-te" Han Shan (literally "cold mountain") was a reclusive 9th Century Chinese poet and hermit. He was befriended by a local monk who worked in the kitchens and would bring scraps to his friend. In Zen Buddhism Han-shan symbolizes theory and pureness of thought and usually is pictured with a scroll. Often thought of as symbolic of salvation through study and meditation. And in Mayumi's deft hands, he is transformed into a female figure.
