Peter Andrew Wolf (B. 1956)

I’ve had a love affair with movement, balance and form for as long as I can remember.  This informs my approach to making art.  Ceramics education began in my early 20’s, along with drawing, while I was acquiring BA and MA degrees in Counseling & Psychology.
    
After serious head injuries affected my close proximity vision and balance, I used the creative practice of working with clay as part of my healing journey, to re-learn a relationship between my body and space.  Each piece I create contains a prayer for well being with intention of transformation. Ceramics for me is a meditation to reach through the clay, from my heart and beyond sight, to create something functional and beautiful.

I’ve studied Martial Arts since age 12.  It eventually led me to train in the Bujinkan lineage. How the Japanese create balance by engaging movement & function with nature & beauty, using all the elements in counterpoint, aligns with my personal aesthetic. To me, refining design by moving and shaping clay is a martial art dance.

When not making ceramics or designing custom fine jewelry, I work as a Consultant & Executive Coach. I love the practice of deeply listening, and facilitating my clients to expand their insights to master new skills of observation, awareness and communication.  This dovetails perfectly with my work as an artist.
